BMW M Coupe, M Roadster | Z3 & Z4 Resource Network
Problem Areas
Hey Everyone, I'm going to be picking up my first M coupe in the next week or so. It's a 1999 Black M with just over 50k. I know the original owner and he has taken excellent care of the car. I just wanted to get a feel for possible problem areas or weakness of these cars, ie. common motor, tranny issues? weak differentials? that kind of stuff.

Subframes can be a problem. Install ireland Engineering subframe bushings.or may require major surgery eventually. Glove box door will sag. Get a repair kit on Ebay and remove the heavy weight in glovebox door. Seats will rock slightly. Install better seat bushings. Upper shock mounts will rattle. Get Rogue Engineering mounts. Cooling system i.e. fan blades and water pump are weak points.

might want to hook up with Rady Forbes and get a sub-frame kit to fix our sub-frame issue of ripping out!
